Clear Gears Up to Show Philly Some LOVE!

The time is almost here…we’re just a few days away from CLEAR’s colossal launch in the city of brotherly love! In anticipation of the launch, over the past few weeks CLEAR has been showing Philadelphia some major love!

Aside from introducing Philadelphians to CLEAR’s 4G network with our impressive demos, many folks have been flying high this week with our balloon teases that have been taking place all across the city. For 10 days leading up to launch, balloons have been strategically placed in areas like LOVE Park, Temple University and outside Geno’s Steaks in South Philly. The objective–pop a balloon and you win a prize! So make sure you keep your eye out for those green balloons! Speaking of balloons, on Friday folks taking a drive along the Schuylkill Riveron 76 would have seen quite a sight, the 80-foot-tall CLEAR Hot Air Balloon was flying high as commuters headed to work.

Another exciting attraction that happened this weekend aside from CLEAR’s aerial banner flying high over the World Series and the Eagles game is the famed LOVE Park fountain turning GREEN!! Now that’s not something you see every day. And if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard about our huge launch event happening this week in LOVE Park, then you don’t know that LOVE Park is now one massive HOTSPOT! That’s right! Folks who come to the park can now try out CLEAR’s 4G network themselves to see what all the hype is about! One thing Philadelphians have also probably seen around town is CLEAR’s impressive showroom…it’s literally a living room on wheels! It’s definitely been an attention-getter!

Needless to say we have lots of cool activities happening around the main event which is of course…CLEAR’s Launch event in LOVE Park. The event takes place this Thursday, November 5th rain or shine from 11am-3pm. So make sure you come on out! Folks who come out to show CLEAR some love will go home with a delicious “sweet treat” of their own too! It’s a surprise so you’ll have to come down to the event to find out what it is!

Evolution of the Fittest

In the evolution of any species or technology, it is the strongest and fastest and most capable that perseveres. This week, I had the pleasure of joining our fellow WiMAX champions at the ITU Telecom World 2009 conference in Geneva, Switzerland, where it became clear to me that WiMAX still has a leg-up in the evolutionary race to the 4G finish line.
The WiMAX Forum and executives from Clearwire, Beceem, Cisco, Huawei, Samsung, Intel, UQC, Yota and others were all on-hand at the conference to show support for WiMAX as our ecosystem continues to grow and expand the global WiMAX footprint. Already at 500 deployments across more than 145 countries, WiMAX is showing it has the chops to maintain its market lead as the first commercially available 4G technology worldwide.
And Clearwire has recently taken several steps toward that end, as well. With today’s announcement of new infrastructure partnerships with Alvarion and ZTE to build out WiMAX in Spain; our recent agreements with Russia’s Yota and Japan’s UQ Communications; and with the robust vendor structure we have in place throughout North America, we’re doing our part to drive the evolution of this technology forward.
As we continue to band together with international technology powerhouses to change the very face of mobile broadband, perhaps what we’re doing is not evolution at all – but revolution.

Texas Conversion Market Launch News

The Texas Conversion Market Launches are off to a great start!  We have had high attendance in Killeen, Abilene, Wichita Falls and Amarillo.  There are more launches in the weeks ahead as we introduce CLEAR 4G to Lubbock, Midland, Odessa, Waco and Corpus Christi.

In addition to the impressive CLEAR 4G demos, one of the biggest attention-getters is the 80-foot-tall CLEAR Hot Air Balloon.  The pilot and his team had great success in Wichita Falls where the sky was filled with the balloon on October 15.  The CLEAR Balloon flew for on various flights around the city lasting up to 90 minutes.  The bright green CLEAR balloon got the attention of Wichita Falls residents immediately.  Many people started calling the local CLEAR office and the radio station to find out what was going on with the CLEAR Hot Air Balloon.  Mission Accomplished!  The activity was a great traffic driver for the launch event which was held in the parking lot of the local Wichita Falls Best Buy store.  Look to the skies for the CLEAR Hot Air Balloon in your area!

The next day in Amarillo, we had a successful launch event at West Gate Mall.  Attendees were entertained by Stomp, the mascot for the Amarillo Gorillas Minor League Hockey Team.  Stomp helped the event staff by handing out prize entry stickers to launch attendees and entertaining the children and adults in Center Court.  Our strong attendance numbers were due to the great team effort put forth from the local Amarillo CLEAR Office, but Stomp tried to take all of the credit!
