Last week was quite the week here at Clearwire. With two announcements and a solid executive presence at the next generation mobile industry’s premier event, 4G World – where we took home two out of five industry awards – Clearwire kicked off the fall with a flurry of activity.
Held in Chicago, the 4G World conference and expo boasts attendance by the who’s-who of the mobile broadband ecosystem including the likes of Sprint, Cisco, Samsung, Motorola, Beceem, Amdocs, Ericsson and Nokia.

Clearwire CEO, Bill Morrow, speaks at 4G World
Our own CEO, Bill Morrow, delivered a featured keynote to open the second day of the event, in which he explored the value of 4G in the eyes of the consumer. Addressing a standing-room only crowd, Bill discussed the growing demand for mobile broadband, the life-changing impact of 4G WiMAX for consumers, and how the technology – and Clearwire – is already enabling people to connect to the real ‘magic of the internet.’
This message was bolstered at the conference by a Clearwire team attending in force – including EVP of Strategy, Policy and External Affairs, Gerry Salemme; CTO, John Saw; CCO, Mike Sievert; Strategic Advisor, Scott Richardson; President of International, Barry West; and spectrum development manager, Tajit Mehta – who all participated in discussions or summits on various 4G subjects.
In addition to these many speaking engagements, Clearwire was also honored with two 4G World awards: Best WiMAX Network Deployment for our CLEAR 4G service, and Best Backhaul Deployment, acknowledging the engineering, design and delivery of our 4G WiMAX Backhaul Network.
While 4G World was announcing us a winner, we were also making some announcements of our own – the successful launch of our Silicon Valley Innovation Network, and new partnership with international WiMAX operators, Yota of Russia and UQ in Japan.
A banner week – and we’re just getting warmed up.
