I have a good signal on my Home Modem but I still cannot browse the Internet.

If you have 2 or more lit ‘LED’s of signal on your CLEAR Home Modem but are still not able to connect to the internet please try the following:

A. First ,please check to see if your browser is stuck on a message from CLEAR? If so, click HERE.
B. If there is no message from CLEAR appearing on your screen and you are using a network router to connect to the internet then please:

  • 1. Shut off your computer.

  • 2. Disconnect your modem and computer from any routers (wireless or non-wireless).

  • 3. Connect the CLEAR Home modem directly to your computer using an Ethernet cable.

  • 4. Check cable connections from the modem to computer. The cables should fit securely in their sockets and not wiggle loosely from side to side.

    • a). Make certain that your CLEAR modem is at least 3 feet away from ANY other electronic device (including a CLEAR Voice Phone adapter or a router)

  • 5. Turn computer back on ***.

  • 6. FOR WINDOWS USERS ONLY : If you are an advanced Window user who likes to fix things manually read the Microsoft®** kb article found here.

  • 7. WINDOWS USERS can also try to restart their computer and boot directly into “Safe Mode with Networking.” This can be accomplished by:

    • a. Tapping the F8 key repeatedly after powering the computer on.

    • b. Once the Computer completes boot up (with all ICONS displayed), plug the power cable into the Modem.

    • c. After the LEDs are blinking simultaneously, reconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the computer.

    • d. Try and connect to the internet now.

    • e. If you can connect, your PC has a firewall or program that is blocking access to the internet.

    • f. Reboot, and start the computer up normally.

    • g. Disable the offending program or update your firewall settings to allow access to the internet.

(*** If you are now able to connect to the internet after temporally removing a wireless router from your CLEAR Network setup and you want to reconnect using that router – please see wireless router networking options here: How do I create a wireless network with my home modem? or refer to your router manufacturers’ website for further assistance.
