How do I switch between 4G and 3G service on my Clear Spot 4G+ Personal HotSpot?

Clear Spot automatically searches for the CLEAR 4G network first. If the CLEAR 4G network is not available, it will search for the 3G network.

The signal status graphic indicates the network signal type and connection status.

or      indicates you have service and you are connected to the 4G or 3G network.

or      indicates you have 4G or 3G service, but are not connected to the network.

The Clear Spot 4G+ offers a number of options regarding how it will respond to 3G and 4G signals.
You can control settings of your Clear Spot 4G on the Device Home Page.

  • 1. Enter http://clearpspot or http://192.168.0.1 into your web browser.

  • 2. Enter your User Name and Password (default for both is admin)

  • 3. Click on Advanced Settings

  • 4. Click on the WAN tab

  • You should now be logged in to the CLEAR network and ready to connect to the Internet.

  • 5. Under Connection Preferences, adjust settings based on your network/connection preferences:

A). WAN Mode

  • 4G Preferred – Means a connection can be established to either 3G or 4G. If both are available, 4G is used. By selecting this option, you will often benefit from the faster data transfer speeds of 4G

  • 3G Preferred – Means a connection can be established to either 3G or 4G; If both are available, 3G is used.

  • 4G Only – A connection will be established only to 4G.

  • 3G Only – A connection will be established only to 3G. (Note: When in a coverage area that does not offer 4G service, you can save battery power by selecting “3G only“).

B). Connect Automatically
By selecting “On,” your Clear Spot 4G+ will connect automatically to your preferred network when you power it on. Selecting “Off” disables this capability.

C). Failover Wait-time
The Failover wait time specifies how long the Clear Spot 4G+ should wait after it loses the connection with the preferred network before it attempts to connect to the other network.

D).Switchback Wait-time
Switchback wait time specifies how long the device should wait, after it loses the connection with the less preferred network, before it attempts to connect to the preferred network again.

*Once you make your changes, remember to click the Save button to save your new settings.
