How do I connect my Playstation 3 to CLEAR?
There are a number a ways that you can hook up your Sony Playstation 3 to CLEAR:
Direct Connection
- Turn off your Playstation console & your CLEAR Home modem before connecting any cables. (Unplug your modem from its power source to turn it off).
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the OUT port of your CLEAR Home modem to the Ethernet IN port on the back of the Playstation 3 console.
- Plug in your CLEAR home modem to turn it back ON, then turn on your Playstation console - Make sure that there is no disk in the disk tray.
Wired Router Connection
- Turn off all of your devices (Playstation console, router, CLEAR Home modem, and PC) before connecting any cables. (Unplug your modem from its power source to turn it off).
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the OUT port on the CLEAR Home modem to the IN port on the router.
- Connect one of the Ethernet OUT ports on the router to the Ethernet IN port on the PC NIC using an Ethernet cable.
- Connect another Ethernet cable from an OUT port on the router to the Ethernet port on the back of the Playstation console.
- Plug in your CLEAR home modem to turn it ON, then turn on your router, then your PC.
- Verify that the PC can access the Internet. If not, the router may require a specific configuration to access the Internet through your PC. See your router documentation for further help configuring the router using your PC.
- * If this is the first time connecting to the internet, you will need to accept the CLEAR Terms of Service before moving to the next step.
- Turn on your Playstation 3 console. Be sure there is no disk in the disc tray.
Wireless Router Connection
- Turn off all your devices (Playstation console, router, CLEAR home modem, and PC) before connecting any cables. You should disconnect your modem from its power source to turn it off.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the OUT port on the CLEAR Home modem to the IN port on the Wireless router.
- Plug in your CLEAR home modem to turn it back ON, then turn on your Playstation 3 console - be sure that there is no disk in the disk tray.
- Setup your Playstation for a wireless network.
- Go to Settings, then Network Settings and press the X button on your Playstation 3 controller
- Go to Internet Connection, press the controllers X button, and select [Enabled].
- Go to Internet Connection Settings, and press the X button.
- If you are connected to the internet, you will be advised that you will be disconnected from the internet. Select [Yes] and press the X button.
- Select [Easy] and press the X button.
- Select Wireless and press the X button.
- Select Scan and press the X button.
- Look for your Home Wireless Network Name (SSID).
- Select your router from the list of wireless networks in your screen.
- Verify the network name / SSID, and press the right button on your controller.
- Select the security setting on your router and press the X button.
- Press the X button to enter the encryption key using the onscreen keyboard.
- Enter the security you created for your wireless network.
- The key field always displays eight asterisks (*), even if more or less than eight characters are entered.
- Review your network settings, and press the X button to save the settings.
Note: currently you are not able to connect to the PS3 using a USB modem. Please choose one of the options above for access.
