How do I connect my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to CLEAR?
iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches can connect to the internet using a WiFi network.
Since CLEAR's Home Modem & USB modems do not broadcast WiFi on their own, you will need to use either a wireless router along with your CLEAR Home Modem or one our CLEAR Spot Personal HotSpots. The iSpot Personal Hotspot is designed specifically for use with Apple products . The CLEARSpot 4G+ will link to both a 4G and 3G signal and produce a WiFi HotSpot that you can connect to.
To connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to a WiFi signal:
- Go to the Home screen.
- Choose the Settings option.
- Choose WiFi -this will display all of the WiFi networks in your area, tap the WiFi connection you wish to use.
- If the network you are trying to connect to is protected by a password (WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc. indicated by a lock icon
) you will be prompted to enter this password. - If you need help finding the Network Name and Password on you CLEAR device to access your WiFi network:
- For your CLEAR Home Modem with a 3rd party WiFi router, you will need to check your 3rd party router settings, help with checking these settings are generally available via the manufacturer website ***.
- If the network you are trying to connect to is protected by a password (WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc. indicated by a lock icon
- Once you are connected via WiFi you will see the WiFi icon
in the status bar at the top of your Apple device’s screen. - If you are able to connect to your WiFi network but cannot browse the internet using your CLEAR Home modem, click here for help.
- If you are connecting using your CLEAR Home Modem with a 3rd party WiFi router:
- Unplug the power from both your CLEAR Home Modem and from your 3rd party router.
- Plug back in the power to your CLEAR Home Modem only, the modem’s lights will go through a number of blinking patters that will last approximately 1-2 minutes, wait until only solid lights are on the modem.
- If after 2 minutes the lights on the modem are scanning, or you have less than 2 lights on your CLEAR Home Modem, this means the modem is not finding a strong enough signal. You can try moving your modem to different locations, such as near a window or on a high shelf to attempt to improve the signal, if you cannot get 2 or more lights on your CLEAR Home Modem, please contact Customer Support 7 days a week at (888) 888-3113.
- Once you have 2 or more solid lights on your CLEAR Home Modem, plug the power back in to your 3rd party WiFi router. Please allow the router 1-2 minutes to completely reset itself
- Try re-connecting to your WiFi network.
- Go back to step 1.
