How do I connect my CLEAR Home Modem to a computer?

Depending on your needs there are different ways to connect your CLEAR WiMax Modem:

Connecting your CLEAR Home Modem directly to a stationary, single computer:

  1. Connect the power cord to the modem.(Insure that you have at least two bars of WiMax signal on the modem display, Get instructions on finding the strongest signal in your location here: How to Reposition your WiMAX device to get the best signal.)
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable directly from the Modem’s Ethernet port directly to the Ethernet port in your computer.
  3. Turn on your computer.

Connecting your CLEAR Home Modem to your Computer through a Router; for use with multiple computers or for Wireless Access if you have a wireless router).

  1. Connect power to the CLEAR Home Modem. (Insure that you have at least two bars of WiMax signal on the modem . Get instructions on finding the strongest signal in your location here: How to Reposition your WiMAX device to get the best signal.)
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable directly from the Modem’s Ethernet port directly to one of the Ethernet ports in your Router (check router user manual with specific router questions).

     

  3. If using a stationary, NON WIRELESS ROUTER:
    • Connect a second Ethernet cable from another port in your router directly to the Ethernet port in your computer. Repeat step for any additional stationary computers.
      Note: You can usually connect several computers directly from a non wireless router. The number of hardwired computers you are able to add is dependent on how many Ethernet ports are built into the router itself.
  4. If you are using a WIRELESS ROUTER:
    • Ensure you have a wireless computer or computer card.
  5. Connect the power to the router.
  6. Turn on your computer(s)

Option 2) Turn on your CLEAR device and connect to the wi-fi signal. Launch your browser then follow the directions to buy a monthly plan or short-term pass.

Re-up

If your short-term pass has expired, you’ll need to purchase a new pass to get back online. The good news is, it’s easy to do.
