For our new cash payment customers or potential new customers who are interested, here are a few tips on our new cash payment system:

When you are set up for Cash Payments and do not have a credit card on file to automatically process your monthly payments, you must make a payment in the amount of your full monthly service fee (including applicable taxes) before your monthly payment date. Your service will stop working if there are not enough funds in your account to cover your entire monthly service fee on the morning of your monthly payment date.

If you don’t want to worry about making a cash payment each month, the best option is to add a credit/debit card on your account for automatic payments!

Log into MyAccount on Clear.com or select “Click to Chat”, where a representative can assist you in setting up automatic credit card payments

How to avoid service interruption

When you are set up for Cash Payments and do not have a credit card on file to automatically process your monthly payments, you must make a payment in the amount of your full monthly service fee (including any applicable taxes) before your monthly payment date. Your service will stop working if there are not enough funds in your account to cover your entire monthly service fee on the morning of your monthly payment date.

Steps to take if you miss your monthly payment:

If you did not have sufficient funds in your CLEAR account on your monthly payment date and your service is no longer working, you simply need to make your monthly payment and resume your service by initiating a new monthly service session. Three simple steps will get you back online!

Step 1: Make your cash payment through one of our available payment methods/locations.

Step 2: Connect to your CLEAR device and resume your service by initiating a new monthly service session.

Step 3: Sign in to My Account and select Pay Now to apply your cash payment to a new monthly service session that will start right away. If you need help please go to Clear.com and select “Click to Chat” with a representative who can assist you with resuming your service.

In person:

Visit a local CLEAR store to make a payment using either cash or your credit/debit card. To find a CLEAR retail store near you, visit Clear.com/stores

Many CLEAR authorized retailers can take cash payments. Please call the particular location in advance to ensure that it offers the cash payment option. Please note that a separate transaction fee will apply to each cash payment made.

You always can find your monthly payment date, make a one-time payment with a credit/debit card, or print your billing statement in the Account & Billing section of My Account at Clear.com/my-account

If so, you will be issued a full refund of your replacement device purchase price. If not, you will not receive any refund of your replacement device purchase price

Whether you choose a Standard or Express Exchange, you are required to include the following items with the CLEAR device you are returning:

At CLEAR, we think using the internet should be simple. Unfortunately, for many people the internet can be a confusing jumble of codes, letters and initials. This “Decoded” series is here to help you understand what’s going on in with the World Wide Web.

Our first “Decoded” Post will explain the difference between 4G, 4G LTE and WiMAX.

What is 4G:

In the beginning 1G (first-generation) networks were analog and only passed phone calls. Later, digital 2G was created to support text messaging and email services. Then came 3G; this is when mobile internet was born.

Clearwire, CLEAR’s parent company, is the pioneer in 4G internet and built the first 4G network in the country.

Spectrum is the foundation on which a wireless network is built. The more spectrum a network has, the bigger the network’s pipe and the greater its ability to move large amounts of data. Our CLEAR 4G spectrum position allows us to utilize a wider range of channels.

What is 4G LTE:

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. LTE is a 4G wireless communications standard developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) that’s designed to provide up to 10x the speeds of 3G networks for mobile devices.

The main difference between 4G and 4G LTE: 4G provides IP based support while 4G LTE’s goal is to improve speed.

Clearwire is planning to add “LTE Advanced-ready” technology to our 4G network. Our LTE network will be “LTE Advanced-ready” meaning that it will use an ultra-high-capacity spectrum configuration that is superior to the typical configuration of the slower, more capacity-constrained commercial LTE network designs in the United States today.

Now we’re looking at an initial implementation of our LTE network that aims to target densely populated, urban areas of our existing 4G markets where current usage demands are high.

Click here to view the embedded video.

What is WiMAX:

WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a dedicated data network offering wider coverage and a higher capacity than Wi-Fi, while supporting a single standard for fixed and mobile usage. WiMAX service uses towers in markets, creating market-sized “hot zones” as opposed to Wi-Fi “hot spots” which have a very limited range. WiMAX circumvents service issues such as interference and noise that can be experienced when using Wi-Fi.

CLEAR was first in the industry to launch a WiMAX network and continues to host the largest 4G network. We will continue to use a WiMAX based network long into the future.

Yesterday we had the great opportunity to participate in KIRO7 Seattle’s Mobile Tweetup with Jenni Hogan. KIRO 7 Eyewitness News partnered with Brotherton Cadillac Buick GMC, Northwest Center, and Big Fish Games for the 4th Annual Northwest Harvest Baby Days Drive. From March 1 until March 29 the CLEAR team collected baby food, formula and diapers to donate to Northwest Harvest.

The donations collected at CLEAR headquarters

The Baby Days drive continues until April 5 but our big donation was during the Mobile Tweetup. Together, the CLEAR team donated over $1,000 to Northwest Harvest. That apart of a preliminary estimate of around 32,000 items donated…and still counting!

What is a mobile Tweetup you ask? Here it is explained from KIRO7 TV:

he concept is simple: Tweetups traditionally bring Twitter users together in a single spot (meetup + Twitter = Tweetup). During a Mobile Tweetup, KIRO 7 and Jenni Hogan bring the Tweetup to you. Donation stations are set up in advance of the Tweetup to collect for whichever cause the Tweetup is supporting. On the day of the Tweetup, Jenni and a crew of sponsors and supporters drive around to each predetermined location to pick up the donations. Along the way, they Tweet what they’re up to while we livestream the event on kirotv.com.

Here are a few fun images of Jenni Hogan and the KIRO7 team arriving at our office:

Jenni Hogan and the KIRO 7 team arriving at our offices

Our CEO Erik Prush greeting Jenni Hogan

Jenni, Erik and the CLEAR Team!

Thank you KIRO7 and Jenni Hogan for the opportunity to help out with a great cause. The 2012 Northwest Harvest Baby Days was a huge success. We love our Northwest babies!
