Hit the Road this Summer and be Your Own Personal Hotspot

July 25th, 2011

We’re well into summer, but hopefully you’ve still got lots of adventures, weekend getaways, and days working remotely (read: on the beach) to look forward to before the cold sets in. Our goal with CLEAR® is to keep you connected on-the-go, wherever (in CLEAR coverage) those adventures may take you, so we thought we’d share a couple of our favorite devices for doing just that.

The Rover Puck™ by CLEAR and our new CLEAR Spot® device, Apollo, are two 4G devices that let you become your own personal Wi-Fi hotspot. Both of these work with up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices, so hook up everything you’ve got or share the love with your friends while you’re out together.

The Rover Puck by CLEAR is a sleek and stylish disk that runs on a rechargeable battery and gives you up to 4 hours of continuous usage*. Another plus – it’s only $20 (plus tax) right now** with a 2-yr contract***. You can find it on clear.com or, if you’re an existing customer, just log into MyAccount and follow the steps listed there to add a new line.

Our latest creation, the CLEAR Spot 4G – Apollo, is manufactured by Gemtek and costs just $99 (plus tax). It’s pocket-sized (weighing in at less than 5 ounces and only 3.4”), but powerful enough to supply you with all the juice you need to connect your laptop, smartphone, portable gaming devices and more to our 4G network.  With a rechargeable battery and up to 6 hours of continuous use*, it’s your new best friend on a road trip.

Which device would you choose to keep connected on the go?

.

* Actual battery life that user experiences between charges may vary and is not guaranteed.

** Limited Time Offer; may be changed or withdrawn at any time, without notice.

*** Additional terms and restrictions (including an Early Termination Fee of up to $115/device) apply; see relevant pages at www.clear.com for details.

Clearwire’s 4G Network Now Covers Nearly 3 Million in Puget Sound

July 19th, 2011

Although it may feel more like October here than July right now we’ve got some news to brighten your day. We’ve been working with Comcast and Sprint and have built up a 4G network that covers you almost everywhere you’d want to go within the Puget Sound. That means your devices will be working as far south as Graham and as far north as Arlington! Commuting & camping will never be the same.

Make that drive across the 520 go by a little faster by streaming your favorite NPR podcast, catch up on work during your train ride down to Tacoma, and download apps instantly on the go. As our Regional General Manager, Amy Holly said, “we are committed to providing the best service experience in the greater Seattle-Tacoma area,” and that means giving you the freedom to get fast 4G internet wherever you are.

“Customers are eager for the latest 4G devices,” said Kevin Kunkel, Sprint’s West Region VP, and we’ve built a network to back them up. With key capacity upgrades, nearly 100 new towers and coverage for an additional 240,000 people since our initial launch in 2009, Len Rozah, SVP of Comcast’s Washington Region says: “The expansion of XFINITY Internet 2go in the Seattle area is another example of our focus in providing customers with an enhanced experience.”

Clearwire, Time Warner Cable and Sprint Expand 4G Coverage in New York City

The city that never sleeps just got another reason to stay awake.

When we first launched our 4G network in New York City 8 months ago we changed the way New Yorkers were able to experience the Internet and stay connected on the go.  We’ve been hard at work with Sprint and Time Warner Cable ever since then to continually upgrade and expand our game-changing network, and as of today we’ve added coverage for an extra 91,363 people. That means our total NYC area coverage now reaches over 11,927,000 people.

“Sprint 4G customers in the Greater New York area will benefit from these enhancements,” said Karen Paletta, Sprint’s East region Vice President. And it’s true! We know how busy you are, and these upgrades have made our network bigger, faster and strong enough to keep up with you as you run around making things happen in your city.

“Across New York and New Jersey, Clearwire’s 4G speed continues to set the standard in delivering a high-speed network that businesses and consumers demand,” said Sean Reid, Regional General Manager for Clearwire. It’s never been easier to get things done on the go – whether you’re downloading a file for work or sending your friend a video clip you took during an outdoor concert in the park. As Lou Lazzaro, Vice President of Wireless, Time Warner Cable New York City said, we’re “offering our customers multiple ways to access the information and content they want at home, at work and on the go.”

Let’s hear it from you though New York, how do you use your CLEAR 4G to stay connected on the go?
